The National Improvement and Development Leadership Board has launched the Developing People – Improving Care Framework. The framework, co-developed by 13 organisations across health and care, including NHSCC, is designed to help team leaders at every level of the NHS to develop improvement and leadership capabilities among their employees and themselves. Through this it aims to support staff to deliver continuous improvement across the system and gain pride and joy from their work, which will also help to protect and improve services for patients in the short term and for the next 20 years.
The framework focuses on helping NHS and social care staff to develop four critical capabilities:
Our chief executive Julie Wood who sits on the National Improvement and Development Leadership Board said “It’s really important that we have a framework that helps us to develop the right skills, the right cultures and right sets of behaviour that leaders will need for the future if we are to deliver on the increasing challenges that we’ve got in the health service today.”
The framework has been co-developed by the Care Quality Commission, Department of Health, Health Education England, Local Government Association, NHS Clinical Commissioners, NHS Confederation, NHS England, NHS Improvement, NHS Leadership Academy, NHS Providers, NICE, Public Health England and Skills for Care.
