Following member feedback on value of a national programme of induction for lay members, we are delighted to announce the details of the first induction programme in partnership with NHS England. This is a full day event that aims to prepare new lay members for their role and act as a refresher on the NHS and requirement of the role for those that have been in post for a longer period of time.

This will be held in partnership with the NHS Providers NED Induction Programme and will offer opportunity for networking with provider NED colleagues throughout the day through shared sessions and refreshment breaks

Programme for the day
The final confirmed agenda for the day can be downloaded here and will cover the following:

  • the developing environment of the NHS and what that means for the leadership of CCGs and lay members
  • governance and the law, including roles and responsibilities of lay members
  • NHS England – an introduction to oversight and support
  • presentations from experienced lay members on the work they undertake in their local area
  • the involvement of patients and the public in integrated care and how this can be achieved
