The health and social care secretary Matt Hancock named technology as one of his three priorities for the NHS. The NHS long term plan has since set out an ambitious vision for the digital development of the service.
NHS organisations understand the importance and the opportunities of investing in technology to meet the developing needs of patients and the future population. But they have a challenge in working out how to balance this against the other priorities.
We worked with NHS Providers and NHS Confederation to host an interactive webinar discussion on how we turn digital ambitions into reality.
The discussion, chaired by BMJ editor Fiona Godlee, brought together leaders from across the NHS to explore how the NHS can successfully implement digital transformation.
It looked at the key barriers and enablers to innovation and explore what good digital leadership is and how we can support further.
