The health and social care secretary Matt Hancock named technology as one of his three priorities for the NHS. The NHS long term plan has since set out an ambitious vision for the digital development of the service.

NHS organisations understand the importance and the opportunities of investing in technology to meet the developing needs of patients and the future population. But they have a challenge in working out how to balance this against the other priorities.

We are working with NHS Providers and NHS Confederation to host an interactive webinar discussion on how we turn digital ambitions into reality. Signing up is easy and takes a minute through our registration page.

The discussion, chaired by BMJ editor Fiona Godlee, will bring together leaders from across the NHS to explore how the NHS can successfully implement digital transformation.

It will look at the key barriers and enablers to innovation and explore what good digital leadership is and how we can support further.

The panel will include:

  • Joe Harrison, chief executive of Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,
  • Deborah El Sayed, director of transformation for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group,
  • Shanti Vijayaraghavan, consultant physician at Newham University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, who instigated web based diabetes consultations improving attendance rates dramatically.

There will be opportunities for you to submit questions during the discussion and ahead of the day via Twitter using #digitalleaders.
