In response to the challenges of 2020, the NHS has rapidly accelerated its efforts to offer digitally-enabled care wherever possible in order to meet need safely and sustainably.

Mental health has become a focus of the pandemic, with studies showing increasing levels of poor mental health. Common conditions like insomnia, anxiety, and depression – which have a complex bi-directional relationship – will present a particular challenge in primary care and the community, where the majority of need is seen.

Looking at the pandemic and beyond, what strategic role should digital play in managing and treating poor mental health? How can system leaders implement safe & effective digital solutions to manage mental health need in primary care and the community? And what case studies can commissioners use today as blueprints for the successful implementation of digital solutions?

In this panel discussion, you will learn:

  • How the NHS is using digital CBT for insomnia to treat & prevent poor mental health in primary care and the community
  • A blueprint for successfully implementing digital solutions in existing clinical workflows
  • The role of digital in overcoming stigma surrounding mental health
  • The benefits digital can deliver to patients, clinicians, commissioners and systems

You will hear from:

  • Chair: Dr Phil Moore, Chair Mental Health Commissioners Network
  • Dr Tim Cooper, GP and Mental Health Lead for NHS North Hampshire CCG
  • Matt Williams, Digital Health Engagement Manager at the Oxford AHSN
  • Dr Charlotte Lee, UK Director at Big Health

This session is intended for primary care commissioners, mental health commissioners, Primary Care Network leaders, and system stakeholders interested in implementing digital solutions for patients at scale, particularly those with insomnia and broader mental health needs.

It has been designed in partnership with Big Health, the company behind Sleepio – evidence-based digital CBT for insomnia being delivered by the NHS in North Hampshire, the Thames Valley, and beyond in the UK.
