Introduction

NHS Clinical Commissioners is the independent membership organisation of clinical commissioning groups.

We provide CCGs with a strong collective voice and represent them in the national debate on the future of healthcare in England. We facilitate shared learning; and deliver networking opportunities for our members so that local clinicians can commission the best possible services for their patients and populations. Watch the video below to find out more.

We are proudly member led and member driven, providing the national, credible voice of local clinical commissioning. Our members set our priorities so that we are working effectively to find national solutions to key local issues that matter to them and support CCGs to secure the best possible healthcare and health outcomes for their patients.

We do this in three main ways.

Voice
We give CCGs a strong, influencing voice from the frontline to the wider NHS, national bodies, government, parliament and the media.

As part of this we meet regularly with NHS England, the Secretary of State for Health, Department of Health, NHS Improvement, CQC, NICE and others to raise the issues that might be holding commissioners back and help to find solutions and shape national policy. We also respond to consultations and give evidence to parliamentary inquiries on issues that will make a difference to CCGs and the NHS.

Support
We produce publications and briefings, both to demonstrate the positive difference that CCGs are making, and to help spread learning.

We hold workshops, events and webinars to keep members informed on current topics and facilitate direct engagement with senior decision-makers.

We also provide CCGs with information to help navigate the complexities of clinical commissioning via our member only bulletins and briefings, available in the members only area of our website.

Networking
We have a number of member networks, including for lay members, mental health commissioners, and finance officers. These provide an opportunity for commissioners involved in these areas
to come together and support each other with common challenges as well as share best practice to enhance their work locally.

We also offer personal and professional development for CCG leaders to help them effectively deliver enduring transformation that meets the healthcare needs of their local populations.
